When the weather outside is chilly you may be wondering what you can do to keep the spark and passion alive? We took a look at the calendar and found some interesting “lesser known” holidays that you can turn into fun and festive dates.
With December beginning this coming weekend, why not start the holiday’s off right with National Christmas Lights Day that falls on December 1st. Here’s an inexpensive surprise date that can have you and your partner (along with the kids if applicable) to jump in the car and drive the neighborhood to look at lights. Fill up bags of popcorn and you’ve got a perfect start to the last month of 2018!
December 8th is Gingerbread Decorating Day and December 12th is Gingerbread House Day. There are a couple of ways you can spin this date. This first is that you can search Google for any “gingerbread house decorating” events in your town. We’ve found both free and paid events that provide all of the supplies for you to build your very own gingerbread masterpiece. Another option is to purchase a kit at a local store or online and create your gingerbread house in the comfort of your own home. We suggest adding to the date by getting some some holiday or gingerbread PJ’s or a onesie and wrap it up as a gift with an invitation to the surprise date without giving away too many clues. Then get dressed up in your holiday garb, sip some hot chocolate or apple cider. We see this as the perfect winter night in and a real bonus if you have a fireplace to increase the romance factor.
December 17th is Clean Air Day and if you have an oxygen bar nearby might be a great way to celebrate. If you’re not familiar an oxygen bar, it’s an establishment that sells oxygen for recreational use. Individual flavored scents may be added to enhance the experience. It’s supposed to provide some great health benefits.
December 9th is Cremation Day and while I know this may sound a little morbid, we have a positive spin. Since it’s close to the end of the year, why not reflect on what’s transpired during 2018. Take some paper, preferably flash paper, and write on one side what you’re thankful for and what you would like to create in 2019. On the other side, write what you would like to release that no longer serves you whether personally, professionally or both. You can then burn the paper to let go of of those things in 2018 and to manifest your hearts desire in the New Year.
December 13th is National Horse Day. We love horseback riding and hope this day will inspire you to go for a trail ride or maybe head to the racetrack for your date. If those aren’t an option in your area, you may be in luck to find a horse on an old fashioned carousel.
Sangria Day is December 20th and a great opportunity to enjoy tapas, sangria and maybe a flamenco show.
December 22nd is Silence Day. This is a great opportunity to reward yourself and have a day of silence. No phone, no electronics, no radio and no talking. You will have to communicate in other ways. Using only sign language, pointing or writing things down. You may learn some new things about yourself and your partner.
Now that we’ve rounded the corner with Thanksgiving, the holiday season is now in full tilt. We know this time of year can be hectic which is why it’s vitally important that you make time for your relationship. Create special moments as a couple to enjoy each others company and to further connect and deepen your relationship.
